Twitter – How To Auto-Reply And Auto Follow

Firstly, for Non-Twitter Users:

I resisted it at first but now I find that I am a raving fan of Twitter. If you are not using Twitter yet, take my advice and just do it. Even if you don’t plan to Twitter much yet, just register to make sure you grab a user name that’s close to yours. You’ll thank me later for this piece of advice. So go ahead, create a Twitter account for free and “follow” a few active Twitter users to appreciate what it does.

Now for Twitter Users:

Have you ever noticed how when you “follow” certain Twitter users, you will get an immediate reply saying something like “Thanks for following me”. And also, you may find that these users also seem to immediately respond by “following” you too. Do you want to know how to do it too?

Chances are, these user are using a free service from http://www.tweetlater.com

This service allows you to do 3 things:

  1. Automatically respond to your followers with a personal message
  2. Automatically “follow” your “followers”
  3. Submit a Twitter message to be published at a later time

Twit Later

You can also manage multiple Twitter accounts from this site. For example if you have a Twitter Account for yourself and one for your business.

Follow me on Twitter to see a demo of how it works. You’ll get a reciprocal follow from me. :)

How To Use Twitter Lists

Twitter Lists

I was naturally intrigued and soon discovered that its a funky new way that Twitter introduced for us to organize our Twitter feeds. It’s really timely as I was beginning to find my massive list of constantly updating Twitter feed becoming increasingly ineffective under all that volume.

What Are Twitter Lists?
Well you can think of them as “Categories” for your Twitter feeds. Instead of having one massive list, you can now break them down into as many categories as you like.

When you click on each “list” you will only see the friends you follow and even the people you don’t follow in the feed column. Yes, this way, you can keep track of topics and people without following them.

How Do You Create a List?
Well, its simple, just scroll down the sidebar and find the “New List” button.

You can create a “Public” or “Private” list. A public list can be accessed by people who visit your Twitter page and a private lists is for your eyes only. Then hit the “Create List” button.

Adding Feeds To Your Twitter List
You can do a search for a particular topic or just click on anyone on your existing feed that is relevant to your list. On that person’s Twitter page, you will find a “List” icon on the same row as the “Follow” icon.

Click on the “List” icon and select the relevant list you wish to add this feed to.

Congratulations, You’ve Created Your First Twitter List!
Now, when you click on your list, you will only see the feeds of the people you added there.

I have to applaud Twitter for adding this cool and yet very necessary feature. I know have a new dimension to my Twitter account as a way to follow topics and people more efficiently!

Desktop Applications & Twitter Lists
I’m also happy to report that desktop Twitter clients, like Seesmic Desktop (what I am using), also support Twitter Lists.

Twitterlist6

My only complaint is that the desktop lists are not synchronized with the web-based lists I create on Twitter.com. Nonetheless, I am happy to have the feature available.

Make Money From Twitter

If you’re haven’t been using Twitter or new to it, don’t fret. I’ve also started using Twitter to generate income but I’ve found my top Twitter money making product, The Tweet Tank.

Once you get The Tweet Tank, you’ll be given a series of instructional videos which teaches you how to set up your own automated Twitter money generator. Many people have huge success using this including myself. I cannot disclose the my Twitter account used to generate my income due to possible chance of getting banned but I can tell you one you watch the videos, you’ll know how to set things to works quickly and fast track the money.

I’ve used other products but I still think The Tweet Tank is the best one out there because it doesn’t require you to purchase any additional information to get things done. By just signing up to their mailing list, 4 videos are available for free. After watching them it convinced me to purchase the other videos.Other Twitter products sell their blueprint at very low price but eventually you’ll find out you need to purchase additional products to be successful. The Tweet Tank is not the case because the videos series show you everything you need to know with no extra purchase.

So here’s my summary

Advantages of Tweet Tank

- Easy to set up. Once everything is in place, monitor it frequently and wait for money to flow in.
- Effective. I have used it and it’s direct to the point without the trouble of reading unnecessary stuffs.
- You watch it. Tweet Tank is not an e-book and I’ve always hated reading because it can be tiring. Tweet Tank comes in 8 fully instructed videos to set up the program!

Disadvantages of Tweet Tank

- The Tweet Tank isn’t very appealing when it comes to the graphics but you’ll only take a few minutes a day using it so that’s not a big problem
- Although the videos are useful, a supplemental e-book reiterating all the main points from the video should be included. It will make things easier to be re-read

There’s nothing bad about Tweet Tank, the videos are short and sweet and it works effectively so I think the price they’re asking right now is very reasonable. It seems price will go up anytime due to increasing number of sales so act fast!

How to STOP Those Freakin Auto Dm’s

Posted by Jack Bastide

at February 10, 2009

I Love Twitter! It’s brilliant in its simplicity. It forces you to make your point quickly. It’s an incredible Networking tool. I have met a lot of people on Twitter, had phone conversations with many of them and even met several in person.

But I do have one pet peeve about Twitter. Those Automatic Direct Messages  Auto DM’s) that some people send you when you follow them annoy the heck out of me!  You know what I’m talking about …

  • “Thanks for Following me … go buy my junk at blah blah blah .com”
  • “Thanks for following me .. I’m following you now too”
  • ” or even the simple “Thanks for following me”
  • etc etc …

I follow a LOT of people and get a LOT of those DM’s and they annoy the heck out of me. I expressed my frustration in a Tweet and a couple of people told me their is a way of blocking them. I decided to look into it further and here’s what I found …

At the time of writing this there are two main services that send those Auto Dm’s.  Tweetlater and SocialToo Luckily they both have an Opt Out Procedure. So without any further Adieu here is what you do (you can thank me later)

Tweetlater Opt Out Instructions

1)  Log in to Twitter.

2)  Follow @OptMeOut.

They will follow you back within a few minutes.

3)  Wait until you’ve received the email from Twitter that tells you @OptMeOut has followed you back.

4)  Then send a DM to @OptMeOut. (You can write whatever you want in the DM, it does not matter.)

5)  After sending the DM, unfollow @OptMeOut. (This way your opting out remains private since people won’t see you in the list of @OptMeOut’s followers. They will unfollow you as well.)

TweetLater will, within a few minutes of you sending your DM, stop sending you any further automated welcome DMs.

Your decision to opt-out remains private. They will never disclose it to anybody, unless required by law.

If you ever change your mind about opting out, please submit a Help Desk ticket and ask us to remove them from the opt-out list.
